Corpus Christi: The Food that Transforms and Binds Us in Community

Introduction (Corpus Christi) Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, good morning! Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, that is, the celebration of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is truly present in the Sacrament of the new and eternal Covenant, living memorial of His redeeming sacrifice.  He is the living Bread come down from heaven, who gives life to men and women.  On the cross, He gave His flesh for the life of the world.  And so we declare in faith: “We adore You devoutly, O Godhead unseen, who truly lie hidden under the appearance of Bread and Wine.”         Please rise for the entrance hymn! Prayers of the Faithful (Corpus Christi) (Priest):                        Let us pray to God the Father, that through His Son Jesus, the Bread of Life, H...

Holy Trinity: The Source Of All Mysteries

Introduction (Solemnity of the Holy Trinity)  May 26, 2013 Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, good morning! Baptized as Christians, our whole life is marked by the sign of the Trinity.  The Father has created us in love.  The Son came to the world to make it possible for us to recover our exalted status as children of God, which we lost because of sin.  The Holy Spirit continues the work of the Son in the Church and in history until the Lord Jesus returns in glory.  Indeed, the mystery of the Trinity is both the origin and the final goal of our journey.  Someday our eyes will contemplate the face of God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.         Please rise for the entrance hymn! Prayers of the Faithful (Solemnity of the Holy Trinity) (Priest):                      ...

Catholic Marriage: Readings

SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY Liturgy of the Word First Reading A reading from the letter of Paul to the Corinthians. Set your hearts on the greater gifts. I will show you the way which surpasses all the others. If I speak with human tongues and angelic as well, but do not have love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and with full knowledge, comprehend all mysteries, if I have faith great enough to move mountains but have no love, I am nothing. If I give everything I have to feed the poor and hand over my body to be burned, but have not loved, I gain nothing Love is patient, love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not put on sins, it is not snobbish. Love is never rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not prone to anger, and neither does it brood over injuries. Love does not rejoice in what is wrong, but rejoices with the truth. There is no limit to love’s forbearance, to its trust, its hope, its power to endure. Love...

Pentecost Sunday: The Birth of the Church

Introduction (Pentecost Sunday) Year C At Pentecost, the apostles receive the Holy Spirit to mark the official start of their mission. They are to preach the Gospel to all peoples. The presence of the Spirit is a guarantee that their mission will not simply be a human endeavor but the work of God - the continuation of Jesus’ saving mission. The “tongues of fire” mark the apostles’ inner transformation. Feast of the Ascension of the Lord: Cycle C

Introduction (Feast of the Ascension of the Lord) A pleasant day to everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers! Today we celebrate Ascension Sunday, the time when the Risen Christ goes up to heaven to take his place at the right hand of the Father. In his exultation, Christ receives sovereign authority and power over creation and all history. But the Ascension is also a saving event for us. “It is much better for you that I go . .  If I go, I will send the Paraclete to you”. The Risen Christ continues to work with us amid our current situation and realities. Today, we also celebrate the 47 th World Communications Day with the theme proposed by Pope Benedict XVI:   “Social Networks: portals of truth and faith; new spaces for evangelization.”   May our choices, preferences and judgments be fully consistent with the Gospel.         Please rise for the entrance hymn!

By Our Love They Will Know We Are Christians: 5th Sunday of Easter

Introduction (5 th Sunday of Easter)     Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, good morning! At the Last Supper, before his departure, Jesus leaves a sign by which the disciples will be known as his very own:  their love for one another.  And the measure of this love is the love of Jesus for them, the love which makes Jesus stoop down to wash their feet, the love which makes him die on the cross. The seal of our belonging to Christ remains the same:  our love for the Lord and for one another. May we remain faithful to this commandment, which is ever ancient, yet ever new.        Let us all stand for the entrance hymn!
