Pentecost Sunday: The Birth of the Church

Introduction
(Pentecost Sunday)
Year C

At Pentecost, the apostles receive the Holy Spirit to mark the official start of their mission. They are to preach the Gospel to all peoples. The presence of the Spirit is a guarantee that their mission will not simply be a human endeavor but the work of God - the continuation of Jesus’ saving mission.
The “tongues of fire” mark the apostles’ inner transformation. Since they are to communicate God to others, God must be present in them like fire that enkindles into flame frozen hearts, and shines through the darkness of sin and unbelief.

Prayers of the Faithful
(Pentecost Sunday)

(Priest):                        Filled with paschal joy, let us pray more earnestly to God that he, who graciously bestowed the Holy Spirit on the apostles may now send upon us the Spirit of his Son Jesus. We beseech the Lord:
“Lord, send us your Spirit”
(Reader):
·       May our Holy Father Francis and church leaders continue to be true shepherds leading their flocks to good pastures.   We pray: (R)

·       For those who hold public office and those who assist them in promoting the common good, that they may always seek guidance and inspiration from the Holy Spirit. We pray: (R)

·       For the elderly who suffer from isolation or sickness, that they may be strengthened by our love of them as brothers and sisters. We pray: (R)
------
·       For missionaries and workers of evangelization, that they may be emboldened by the power of Holy Spirit dwelling in their hearts. We pray: (R)

·       For those who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, that God may welcome them into the light of his face. We pray: (R)

(Priest):                        Incline your merciful ear to our prayers, we ask, O Lord, and listen in kindness to the supplications of those who call on you. This we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Feast of the Ascension of the Lord: Cycle C

Introduction (Feast of the Ascension of the Lord) A pleasant day to everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers! Today we celebrate Ascension Sunday, the time when the Risen Christ goes up to heaven to take his place at the right hand of the Father. In his exultation, Christ receives sovereign authority and power over creation and all history. But the Ascension is also a saving event for us. “It is much better for you that I go . .  If I go, I will send the Paraclete to you”. The Risen Christ continues to work with us amid our current situation and realities. Today, we also celebrate the 47 th World Communications Day with the theme proposed by Pope Benedict XVI:   “Social Networks: portals of truth and faith; new spaces for evangelization.”   May our choices, preferences and judgments be fully consistent with the Gospel.         Please rise for the entrance hymn!

Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Yr. B

Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time   Entrance: I Sing The Mighty Power of God Table Of Plenty Great is Our God Kyrie: Lord Have Mercy Light from Light Gloria: Glory to God (Tinnah) Gospel Ac: Alleluia (Light from Light) Reading 1 GN 2:18-24 The LORD God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him." So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name.  The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man. So the LORD God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The LORD God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said: "This one,...
