Prayers of the Faithful

(Priest):                        Entering heaven, Christ appears before God on our behalf. We therefore pray to the Lord with a sincere heart and in absolute trust, as we say:
“Lord, draw us close to you”
(Reader):
·       That the Holy Father Francis, bishops, priests, religious and lay leaders may be fired by the Holy Spirit whom the Father sends in Jesus’ name and may boldly proclaim the Gospel to all nations, races, and cultures, we pray: (R)

·       That the Holy Spirit whom the Father sends in Jesus’ name may help our religious and  political leaders to be wise and simple in the exercise of authority and leadership, we pray: (R)

·       That communication professionals, parents, and educators may use wisdom and discernment in the use of the media, for their decisions greatly affect children and young people, we pray: (R)

·       That there may be more practical  initiatives aimed at eliminating the risks to the wellbeing of the children posed by the media, and may children always find in the media a source of support, encouragement, and  inspiration, we pray: (R)

·       May all engaged in the media recognize that they are truly stewards and administrators of an immense spiritual power that belongs to the patrimony of humanity and is meant to enrich the human community, we pray: (R)

(Priest):                        God our Father, we, your children rejoice in the ascension of your Son. Fill us with hope in this life. May we be your faithful witnesses now until the time we join you in heaven, for ever and ever. Amen.

Feast of the Ascension of the Lord: Cycle C

Introduction (Feast of the Ascension of the Lord) A pleasant day to everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers! Today we celebrate Ascension Sunday, the time when the Risen Christ goes up to heaven to take his place at the right hand of the Father. In his exultation, Christ receives sovereign authority and power over creation and all history. But the Ascension is also a saving event for us. “It is much better for you that I go . .  If I go, I will send the Paraclete to you”. The Risen Christ continues to work with us amid our current situation and realities. Today, we also celebrate the 47 th World Communications Day with the theme proposed by Pope Benedict XVI:   “Social Networks: portals of truth and faith; new spaces for evangelization.”   May our choices, preferences and judgments be fully consistent with the Gospel.         Please rise for the entrance hymn!

I will make a suitable partner for him." So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name.  The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man. So the LORD God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The LORD God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said: "This one,...
